MediaTek’s New Flagship Dimensity 9000 Plus

MediaTek has announced the launch of its latest chipset, the Dimensity 9000+ as a competitor to Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

The biggest difference between the newer chip and the Dimensity 9000 is the increase in CPU power.  This main Cortex X-2 performance core has upped the clock speed to 3,2GHz from that of 3,05GHz on its predecessor.  This will provide a 5% boost in performance, while the Arm Mali-G710 MC10 GPU graphic processor will increase its performance by 10%.

Dimensity 9000+ supports Quad HD resolution displays with refresh rates up to 144Hz or FullHD displays up to 180Hz.

Other features from its earlier chipset, such as support for 320MP sensors, triple HDR recording with up to 3 cameras and the latest connectivity standards remain.

Dr Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit stated “Building on the success of our first flagship 5G chipset, the Dimensity 9000+ ensures that device makers always have access to the most advanced high-performance features and the latest mobile technologies, making it possible for their top-tier smartphones to stand out, with a suite of top-tier AI, gaming, multimedia, imaging and connectivity features, the Dimensity 9000+ delivers faster gameplay, seamless streaming and an all-around better user experience”.

MediaTek has experienced good sales growth of 33% (Jan-May) with its Dimensity 8000 and 9000 chipsets in 2022, with brands such as Oppo, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Realme and Honor all recently releasing smartphones powered by Dimensity chips.

MediaTek expects the first smartphones with the Dimensity 9000+ chipset to be launched in Q3 this year.
