Oppo Unveils Reno12 and Reno12 Pro with Quad-Curved Displays

Oppo Reno12 and Reno12 Pro Launched in China

Oppo has refreshed its popular Reno line with two new models: the Reno12 and Reno12 Pro. These are the first Oppo phones to feature quad-curved displays and boast thinner, lighter builds compared to their Reno11 predecessors. Despite the slimmer design, the new models offer increased durability.

Oppo Reno12 and Reno12 Pro Specifications:

The Oppo Reno12 comes with a 6.7” OLED display featuring a resolution of 1,080 x 2,412 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Unlike the previous model, the Reno12’s top and bottom edges are also curved. Both the Reno12 and Reno12 Pro now include Gorilla Glass protection on the front, providing better resistance against drops. The phones feature a mid-frame made from die-cast aluminium alloy, enhancing their durability.

Additionally, both models are IP65-rated for water resistance, allowing the display to function even when wet. The Reno12 measures just 7.25mm in thickness and weighs 179g, making it slimmer and lighter than the Reno11, which measured 7.6mm and weighed 184g. The Reno12 Pro, slightly thicker at 7.55mm and weighing 183g, is still thinner and lighter than the previous Pro model.

Both Reno12 phones are equipped with 5,000mAh batteries supporting 80W fast charging. Oppo claims that the phones will retain 95% of their original battery capacity after 1,000 charge cycles.

Camera and Performance:

The Reno12 Pro boasts a 50MP main camera with an IMX890 image sensor, a 50MP 2x telephoto module, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The standard Reno12 features a smaller 50MP sensor for the main camera but retains the same telephoto and ultra-wide capabilities. Both models include a 50MP front-facing camera. Under the hood, the Reno12 is powered by the Dimensity 8250 chip, available in configurations of 12/256GB, 16/256GB, 12/512GB, and 16/512GB. The Reno12 Pro features the more powerful Dimensity 9200+ processor, offered in 12/256GB, 16/256GB, and 16/512GB variants. Both models utilise LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

AI and Additional Features:

Oppo has integrated various AI features into the camera app, such as automatic photo corrections and background replacement. The AI also offers transcription and summarisation of dictations, a document scanner capable of handling complex content like maths formulas, and the Xiaobu assistant, which can serve as an English teacher and primary school tutor. Additionally, the AI can help plan vacations and create custom itineraries. Both models include an in-display optical fingerprint reader, NFC, and an IR blaster. The Pro model also features stereo speakers for an enhanced audio experience.

Conclusion

The Oppo Reno12 and Reno12 Pro are perfect for those seeking advanced technology in a sleek, durable design. With their quad-curved displays, powerful processors, extensive AI features, and superior camera systems, these models cater to users who demand both style and substance.
